STAN ZELLMER Stanley D. Zellmer, 72, passed away peacefully, on Monday, September 6, 2010, at Cass County Hospice at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IowaStanley Dean Zellmer was born on April 22, 1938, the son of Clarence and Alma Eilts Zellmer, in Atlantic, Iowa. He attended schools in Atlantic and graduated with the Atlantic High School Class of 1956. He went on to study at Iowa State University where he graduated with a BS degree in 1960.Stan was married to Mary Louise Molgaard in Northfield, Minnesota January 29, 1959. The couple resided in Atlantic, Iowa, Los Angeles, California and Downers Grove, Illinois. The couple was blessed with a family of three children. Stan was employed as a scientist with UCLA Nuclear Medicine from 1960 to 1973 and at Argonne National Laboratory from 1973 to 1998. Upon his retirement, the family moved back to Atlantic where he was an active member of Atlantic"s Lion"s Club, ARISE and the Zion Lutheran Church.He is survived by his wife Mary; his children, Mark and Pattee Zellmer of Creston, Iowa, Susan and Butch Liston of Downers Grove, Illinios, and Paul and MaryAgnes Zellmer of Geneva, Illionis; his nine grandchildren, Brennon and Melissa Zellmer, Amanda and JR Lett, Katie Zellmer, Lisa and Nathan Martinez, Mike Goetschel, Rick and Alicia Goetschel, Jeremy Liston, James Zellmer, and Joseph Zellmer; a great grandson Griffin Martinez; brother Clair Zellmer and wife Mary Ann of Huntington Beach, CA; and honorary grandchildren, Alan and Warren Chen.Stan was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law Carol A. Zellmer. Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation daily from 8:00 to 5:30, until Wednesday, September 8, when the family will meet relatives and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. His funeral service will take place at Zion Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 9 at 11:00 A.M, with Pastor Ken Davidson officiating.
