Obituary for Margaret Iftner Young

Margaret Iftner Young, 93, formerly of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on June 27, 2002 in Sedona, Arizona.The daughter of Francis Pearl and Mabel Marshall, Margaret was born July 27, 1908, in Pittsfield, Illinois where she grew up, graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1926 and attended a business college for a short time. She was married December 24, 1927 to Jessie L. Iftner. They taught square dancing lessons in Atlantic for many years. Mr. Iftner passed away March 27, 1968. Margaret was secretary of the Presbyterian Church in Atlantic for many years. She was married to Amos Young on July 9, 1980 in Denver, Colorado. Later on she managed a gift shop in Peaceful Valley Guest Ranch in Colorado.Surviving are one daughter, Loraine Cousins and husband, Ernie, of Sedona, Arizona; one son Marshall Iftner and wife, Elke, of Socorro, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Cindy Traum and husband, Jeff, of Palo Alto, California, Diane Melrose and husband, Dr. Raymond, of Los Angeles, California and Amy Waters of Peoria, Arizona; six great-grandchildren, Lauren Traum, Claire Traum, Matt Melrose, Brenden Melrose, Kayle Waters and Kolby Waters; one great-great-granddaughter, Kennedy Waters.She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jesse L. Iftner; her second husband, Amos Young; and one sister, Alene Burbridge.Funeral InformationA graveside service will be held for Margaret on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at the Atlantic Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Don Seeger of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic officiating.
