Dorothy Wright
Dorothy L. Wright Dorothy L. Wright, 96, of Atlantic, passed away at Heritage House on Wednesday morning, March 17, 2010. She was born the daughter of Charles C. and Almyra Lang on August 27, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska. She grew up in Omaha where she graduated from the Benson High School. Dorothy was married to Clifford B. Wright on June 21, 1933 in Blair, Nebraska. After marriage, they farmed in Aurora, Nebraska before moving to Massena, Iowa in 1940, and to Wiota in 1944, where they were members of the Wiota United Methodist Church. When they retired from farming, they moved to Atlantic in 1974 and transferred their membership to the Atlantic United Methodist Church. She was a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of Rebekah Lodge. She volunteered with Atlantic Hospital Auxiliary and Red Cross Blood Bank. She organized and led the Franklin Farmerettes and 4-H Club in the mid 40's. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting and other handiwork. Dorothy is survived by daughters, Shirley Jacobsen and husband, Floyd of Atlantic, Roma Gerry of Omaha, and son Clifford C. Wright and wife, Novalene of Wiota, ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and two cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, daughter Carol L. Wallace in 2006, her parents, and two sisters, Mariann Collins and Kathryn Cole. IN LOVING MEMORY OFDorothy L. On Saturday, March 20 there will be a family committal service at the Atlantic Cemetery at 10:00 A.M., followed by an 11:00 A.M. memorial service at First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. Reverend Lanette Plambeck will officiate.
