Dorothy Wood - 75, of Atlantic, died at home on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Atlantic, Iowa. Surviving is her daughter, Lana Long and her husband Jeff of Marne; son, Dwight Wood and his wife Michelle of Park City, KS; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Driscoll of Pender, NE and Helen Gray of Atlantic. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Amanda Bass; her husband Dwight Sr.; a daughter, Susan Heron; 1 brother and 2 sisters. Dorothy E. Bass was born February 13, 1935 in Dayton, Iowa and attended schools in the Dayton and Lehigh area. She married Dwight Wood Sr. on February 14, 1955 in Fort Dodge where they made their home. In 1980 they moved to Walnut. Following the death of her husband, she made her home with her daughter, Lana, and later with her grandson, Brian. Dorothy was a homemaker and especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and loved to cook. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 19th in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Schaal officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
