Claudia Odell Womack
Claudia Odell (Harrison) Womack, 90, of Woodville, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Heritage House in Atlantic.
Odell was born on November 11, 1924, in Port Arthur, Texas, the daughter of Claude and Minnie (Adams) Harrison. She married Cecil Womack of Jasper, Texas on June 15, 1944. Odell graduated from The School of Music at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She gave piano lessons to many children when she lived in Port Arthur and Nederland, Texas. She loved music and played the piano at her church every time the doors opened for services. Odell also played piano for several years for the gospel quartet, The Veterans, where her husband was also a member.
She had many friends and family in Texas, whom she missed dearly and told everybody she wanted to go back to Texas, it was home. Odell lived in Atlantic, Iowa, for almost 9 years and enjoyed her new friends there.
Odell is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Yvette Henderson; and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by her daughters, Becky Hunt (husband, Fred) of Atlantic, Iowa, and Connie Neel (husband, Terry) of Kingsville, Texas; son, Brent Womack (wife, Jana) of Lumberton, Texas; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Midway Cemetery in Woodville, Texas.
