Ervin Witt

Ervin Albert Witt, age 87, of Rockwell City, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2005, at the Sunny Knoll Care Centre in Rockwell City.Ervin was born in Bridgewater, Iowa on March 26, 1918 to Albert and Dora (Kistler) Witt and attended school through 8th grade. Once Elvin finished school, he went to work helping other farmers. He married Lois Knop and was able to have a deferment from the army until his son, Doug, was born. Then Ervin served in the army during World War II. He fought in the "Battle of the Bulge&" and was awarded the Bronze Battle Star. He was decorated for his efforts during the war. After he was discharged, he settled down in the Atlantic area with his wife Lois and son Doug. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. He will be greatly missed.He is survived by a son, Douglas E.Witt; grandchildren, Lisa Silence and husband, John, Kristin Kocour and boyfriend, John Semple, Justin Will and wife, Sheradee; great grandchildren, Corey, Brooke and Jacob Silence, Holly, Katie, Amber and Hunter Kocour.Preceding Ervin in death is his wife, Lois Witt on January 1972; parents, Bert and Dora Witt; brothers, Ray, Glen, Lloyd and Robert Witt; a sister Orpha.Services for Ervin will be Friday, December 9, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. at the Roland Funeral Home.
