Irene Wissler
Maggie "Irene&" (Mauk) Wissler, 97, resident of Atlantic, passed away May 28, 2007 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.Irene was born the daughter of William Henry and Mary E. (Stevens) Mauk on August 30, 1909 in Lewis, IA. She grew up in Lewis and graduated with the Lewis Consolidated School in 1928. On February 18, 1932 Irene married John Leo Wissler. The couple divorced in 1954.Over the years Irene lived in various Iowa towns; Lewis, Cumberland, Menlo, Stuart and finally settled in Atlantic in 1957. Irene was employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 22 years and retired in 1974.She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Walnut and the Telephone Pioneers.Irene is survived by her son Jack L. Wissler and his wife, Dellene of Avoca, IA; grandsons Jeff L. Wissler and friend, Julie Dutler of Walnut, IA; Jim L. Wissler and wife, Liza of Wall Lake, IA; Great-Grandsons Joel L. Wissler of Pella, IA; Justin L. Wissler of Wall Lake, IA; Jared L.
