Gail Wissler

Gail F. Wissler, 93, a resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2002, at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha.The son of George F. and Catherine "Kate" (Startzer) Wissler, Gail was born October 31, 1909, in Bear Grove Township, Cass County, Iowa where he grew up, attended country school and graduated from Cumberland High School. Gail was united in marriage to Vivien Walter on May 5, 1934 at Savannah, Missouri. They farmed in Bear Grove Township, one mile south and two miles east of the Fletcher Chapel corner, for forty-two years. They moved to Atlantic in 1978. Gail was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. He was employed at the Cass County Assessor's office in Atlantic for ten years. During this time he held the offices of Deputy Assessor and Assessor. He was active in Kiwanis Club for thirty-four years and delivered Meals on Wheels for twelve years.Surviving are his wife, Vivien Wissler, of Atlantic; one daughter, Winnie Munson and her husband, Lloyd, of Silver City; five grandchildren, Kyle Munson, Mitch Munson, Nancy Kuhrt, Kathy Thomas and Cindy Miller; eight great-grandchildren, Jaide Bossom, Jessica Kuhrt, Nick Thomas, Lindsey Thomas, Megin Miller, Katie Miller, Emily Miller and Frankie Munson; and a number of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gary L. Wissler, February 23, 1996; one grandson, Tim Wissler, October 2, 1983; two brothers, Harley and Ross Wissler; and two sisters, Mary Teich and Loretta Stewart.Funeral InformationFuneral services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at 2:00 P.M. at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with the Rev. Tompsie Smith of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
