Obituary for Myrtle Evelyn Williams

Myrtle Williams, 97, passed on in the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa on June 3, 2005.Myrtle was born, the daughter of Jorgen and Maria (Frost) Hansen, in Lorah Pymosa Township in Iowa on November 11, 1907. She grew up in Lorah, north of Atlantic and was schooled in Atlantic. Myrtle was married to John Ansel Williams, in April of 1931, in Atlantic, Iowa.She will be remembered as a pleasant lady and as a dress maker and worker in retail clothing, for nearly 50 years, until she retired in 1982. She was a Saint Paul Lutheran Church member. Myrtle"s hobbies included making quilts and keeping up on CNN news.Her children will treasure their memories. "She loved playing dominos with grandkids. No one could beat her in Trivial Pursuit because she had "lived through it all;" she knew her politics and always was reading the newspaper. She loved fashion and always noticed sharp designs; she was very good with women while working at Olive"s Dress Shop and Graham"s Department store. Grandma Myrtle was proud of her Danish heritage through and through and was always interested in life and things / people around her. She was interested in people.&" Myrtle is survived by one daughter-in-law, Sally Williams of Atlantic; six grandchildren, Byron E. Williams and his wife, Starlyn of Yangton, SD, Rebecca A. Turner of Council Bluffs, Donald J. Williams and his wife, Tammy of Ames, Sharon E. Williams of Austin, TX, Steven Williams and Bradley Williams both of Denver, CO and seven great grandchildren, Michael Williams, Matthew Williams, and Haley Ann Williams of Ames, Brandon Turner and his wife, Miranda of Bellview, NE, Tiffany Turner of Kansas City, MO, and Hillary Sonntag and Tyler Sonntag of Urbandale. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her two sons, John Williams and Jerry D.
