Kelly Williams, 58, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was born July 5, 1962, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Clifford and Gwendolyn (Griffin) Williams. Kelly’s father was in the military and moved often throughout her school years. She attended grades schools in Hawaii, Omaha, and Griswold. She graduated from the Harlan Community School District with the High School Class of 1980. She then attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, for a short time before transferring to Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she received her LPN. She later returned to Iowa Western receiving her associate’s degree in nursing. Kelly was employed as a Registered Nurse at Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa for several years and later the Atlantic Medical Center. After her sons graduated, she furthered her education in History and Education, receiving her Master’s Degree from Kaplan University.
Kelly had a passion for gardening, whether it being her flowers, vegetables or fruits and she loved canning her produce. She dearly loved her two dogs, Molly and Duke. Stemming from the love of History, Genealogy was something she thoroughly enjoyed. She also deeply loved her sons and granddaughter. She spent countless hours with them doing various activities throughout all of their lives.
She is survived by her sons, Justin and wife Lindsay Williams of Atlantic and Shawn Williams and fiancée Megan McGuire both of Atlantic; her very special granddaughter, Paige Williams of Atlantic; her mother, Mickey Williams of Harlan, Iowa; her brother and sisters: Greg Semrau, Michelle and husband Denny Reis, Patricia and husband Jon Barthelman and Christie Semrau; her nieces and nephews: Lana Moser, Joel Williams, Rachel Williams, Tina Mercado, Nicole Haire, Johnny Myers, Melissa Bremer, Nicole Sokolofsky, Joshua Semrau, Dalton Petty and Cordell Barthelman; her uncle, Thomas and wife Sheryl McMullen; her special cousin, Glenn McMullen; numerous great nieces and great nephews; other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Williams; her parents; her brothers, Lanny Williams and Daniel Williams; her sisters: Sabrina Williams, Cathryn Williams and Jura Myers; and her niece, Chastity Williams.
Family visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. The family requests that visitation hours from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. are reserved for the elderly or anyone with underlying health conditions and hours from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for the rest of her family and friends. During the visitation only 15 people will be allowed in the funeral home at any one time. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be observed.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Atlantic, with Pastor Ben Winford officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to the family for a later designation.
