Obituary for
Lester H. Wheatley Jr.
Lester H. Wheatley, Jr., 75, of Clive, formerly of Lewis, Atlantic, and Carroll, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2003, at the Kavanaugh House, associated with the Hospice of Central Iowa in Des Moines. Lester was the son of Lester Harrison (Harry) and Etta Mae (Kirchhoff) Wheatley and was born September 11, 1927 in Atlantic. He grew up in Lewis where he attended school. He married Evelyn Jeanne Breach at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on December 13, 1952. They lived a number of years in Atlantic, Carroll and Clive. Lester was a partner and salesman in the automotive parts business with Arnold Supply in Carroll. He particularly enjoyed television, collecting toy tractors, snowmobiles, motor cycle riding and feeding and watching the birds and animals. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Jeanne Wheatley of Clive; a brother, John E. Wheatley of Lewis; a half-sister, Evangeline Bruner of Atlantic; and two nieces, Deb Wheatley Baker of Atlantic and Lisa Wheatley Masker of Battle Creek, Iowa. Lester was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Talena B. Wheatley; and three half sisters, Susie Nichols, Eloise Lett and Gertrude Jensen.Funeral InformationThe funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Pastor Terry Schoenfeld of the Evangelical Free Church will officiate. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Rolands from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday evening, January 9.
