Geraldine Lucille "Jerry" Wheatley
Geraldine "Jerry" Lucille Wheatley, 78, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 18, 2002 at the Colonial Manor in Anita, Iowa, where she had been a resident since August 1992.The daughter of Raymond Elma and Martha Caroline (Kirchhoff) Fowble, Geraldine was born December 22, 1923 in rural Anita. She grew up in Anita and graduated from the Anita High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Robert Leroy Wheatley on July 11, 1948. Following marriage, they lived in Atlantic where she was a devoted mother and homemaker and worked at Blue Star, Jaydon and Walton Products before retiring in 1985. Jerry was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic and a fifty-six year member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, sports, traveling with her daughter, visiting her son and his family when they lived in Sioux City and she adored her grandchildren.Surviving are her husband, Robert; one son, David Wheatley and wife, Mary, of Atlantic; one daughter, Debbra "Deb" Field and husband, Jim, of Atlantic; three granddaughters, Tina Stewart and husband, Tim ,of Marion, Iowa, Amanda Cook and husband, Mat, of Sioux City, IA and Kate Wheatley of Atlantic; one grandson, Anthony Wheatley, of Atlantic; one great-grandson, Alexander Cook, of Sioux City, IA; one sister, Irene Rydl, of Anita; one brother, Junior Fowble and wife, Ruth, of Newton, IA; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ralph, Harold, Gerald and LeRoy Fowble; three sisters, Zudora and Helen Fowble and Erma Baier.Funeral InformationServices for Geraldine will be held at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA on Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Don Seegers of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
