Obituary for Olive A. Westphalen

Olive A, Westphalen, 84, of Atlantic, passed away Friday, May 18, 2001, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.The daughter of Ora W. and Minnie Buckner Fancher, she was born February 11, 1917, north of Audubon, Iowa in Cameron Township on the Buckner Family Farm where she grew up. She attended Cameron Township School and lived there until she was united in marriage to Dale Thomas Westphalen, December 23, 1936, at her parents' home. They farmed the Westphalen Family Farm north of Atlantic for nearly 40 years. After her husband passed away, Olive moved into town residing at 806 Chestnut Street for ten years, 800 Chestnut Street for ten years, Cherry Hill Apartments for two years and has lived at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center the past three years. Olive was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic. She was also involved in church circle, the Neighborhood Helpers Club, Cass County Memorial Auxiliary, Farm Bureau, Cass County Cowbells and was affiliated with the 4-H program for many years.Surviving are her sons, Glynn Dale and his wife Joan and Delbert Lynn and his wife Lana both of Atlantic; her daughter, Diane Rae Mason and husband Richard of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, Michael Westphalen and wife Casey, Brenda Roenfeld and husband John, Kristi Westphalen and Matthew Westphalen all of Atlantic, Mark Westphalen and Rebecca Mason both of Ames and David Mason of Des Moines; five great grandchildren, Jordan Westphalen, Carly Wetphalen, Bailey Roenfeld, Tyler Roenfeld and Zechariah Westphalen; two brothers, Jesse Fancher and wife Minnie of Exira and Ora Glenn Fancher and wife LaVaun of Audubon; her sister, Violet Clemsen and husband Virgil of Audubon and a number of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband Dale on November 17, 1974, her parents and twin grandsons, Jason and Jeffrey Westphalen on October 26, 1974.Funeral InformationServices for Olive were held on Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Atlantic, Iowa with Reverend Craig Palmer officiating.Interment was in the Atlantic Cemetery at Atlantic, Iowa.
