MAREE KATHERINE WESTFALL Maree Westfall, age 83, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her loved ones at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Maree Katherine (Beck) Palmer was born December 13, 1927 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Russell and Maxine (Newberry) Palmer. She graduated with the Lakeview High School class of 1946 in Battle Creek. On February 15, 1947, Maree was united in marriage to Roy Westfall. She worked for the Pines Steak House in Atlantic from 1970 to 2010. Maree was a member of the Atlantic Kiwanis Club, the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a volunteer at the Cass County Memorial Hospital. Her survivors include her daughters, Cathy Dennis and husband Bill of Anita, IA, Candi McCune and husband Tom of Belleville, IL, Cindy Turner and husband Jeff of Des Moines, IA, Annie Castle and husband Doug of Humble, TX and Kim Glover and friend Cole Powers of Griswold, IA; one son Michael Westfall of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Sarah (Jamey) Herzberg, Cheree (Greg) Kafton, David Dennis, Willie (Bree) Dennis, Stacy (Jerry) Wildermuth, Michelle (Paul) Elliott, Nicole (Jason) White, Seth (Lindsay) Westfall, Tiffany Brown, Bobbie Jo Depew, Kenny Depew, Brianna and Shaelynn Castle, Trevor Gipple, Saraya (Preston) Gipple, Levi and Hayley Glover and Shiann Haupert; a sister Pat (Jerry) Voyee and a brother Russell (Pat) Palmer; 23 great grandchildren and many dear friends. Maree was preceded in death by her husband Roy Westfall in 1970; her daughter Patricia Westfall Haupert; her sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Hank Collige; her brother Jerry Lee Palmer; her brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Elizabeth Palmer; her grandson-in-law Richard Brown and her parents Maxine and Russell Palmer.Funeral Information There is open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa from noon on Wednesday, May 11 until the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 followed by a family visitation until 8:00. Services will be at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Friday, May 13, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Dan Siepker officiating. Interment will be in the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic.
