Gloria Weirich

Gloria Weirich, of Atlantic and formerly of Griswold, Iowa, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the age of 46. Gloria Jean was born the daughter of Ronald and Lavone (Holmes ) Weirich of Lewis, Iowa on July 29, 1964.She attended school and graduated from Griswold High.She went on to study at Iowa Western Area Community College earning a degree in nursing in which she graduated as a CNA.She worked in nursing for several years; as a EMT and as a volunteer with the Cumberland and Lewis Fire Department.She had currently been working part-time with both Roland Funeral Home and McDonalds of Atlantic. Gloria was baptized in the Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.She was a member of the Atlantic Kiwanis Club and took seriously her position as an advisor to members of the Atlantic Aktion Clubs where she was involved assisting with crafts made for fund raising toward blankets and pillows given to needy children.Hobbies that gave her much pleasure, included making tie blankets, cooking, camping, car racing and other sporting events (baseball, hockey).She enjoyed spending time with her kids and family and doing volunteer work.She will be affectionately remembered by her family and friends as being a giving and loving help to others and as an outstanding cook. She is survived by her parents, Ronald and Lavone Weirich of Lewis, Iowa; one daughter Amber Tye of Atlantic, Iowa; and two sons, Andrew Tye of Atlantic and Joshua Tye of Elk Horn, Iowa and; brother Marvin Weirich and wife Doreen of Cameron, Missouri; sisters, Cindy Cook of Lewis, Iowa and Rhonda Osborn and husband Todd of Dallas Center, Iowa; and nieces and nephews: Ashley, Ryan and Sara Osborn; Dustin Weirich and Kasey Cook and Lee and Jacquie Weirich. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Gertrude Holmes and Ruben and Gladys Weirich; her nephew, Joseph Allen Osborn; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Gloria's funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic at 10:00 AM Monday, July 18, 2011 with Pastor Ken Davidson officiating.The committal service will be in the Lewis Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis, Iowa.There will be Open Visitation on Friday, July 15 from 8:00 to 5:30 PM; Saturday from 8 AM until noon; and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM when there will be Family Visitation on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.Following the funeral service, the committal service will take place in the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis, Iowa.
