Deloris B. Weaver
Deloris B.Weaver Deloris B.Weaver, a former resident of Grant, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 13 days. Deloris was born on August 9, 1927 to Francis and Gladys (Hendrickson) Orstad in Grant, Iowa. She attended school in Grant and graduated from Grant High School in 1945. On February 1, 1947, Deloris was united in marriage to Edward G. Weaver and three children were born from this union, Bonnie, Valley and Darlene. Deloris worked for a short time in Omaha with Mutual of Omaha Insurance. She later worked at the Dorothy Starlin Cafe in Grant, as a cook in Grant for the Griswold School District, Deter Chevrolet, Spurgeons, Cappel Implement and Cook & Caslow Pharmacy until she retired to take care of her father. She was a member of the Noble Center Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school and belonged to the ladies aide. Deloris later participated in services with her father at Strand Lutheran Church of rural Villisca by being involved with quilting and embroidery work for the Annual Bazaar and she was on the cemetery board. Deloris was a sixty-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary serving as president, vice president and treasurer. She also served on the district level of the auxiliary. Deloris enjoyed getting together with friends at JUG and TWT clubs, being a 4-H leader, gardening, embroidery, quilting, puzzles, reading and Thursday morning cinnamon rolls at the Hayloft! Deloris is preceded in death by her parents and both paternal and maternal grandparents; her husband Edward (Whitey); special friend Dennis Larson; brothers, Dale and Russell Orstad; several brothers and sisters-in-law, most recently Maxine Orstad. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK, Valley Weaver and wife Roxanne of Kansas City, MO, and Darlene Bryant and husband Mark of Boone, IA; grandchildren, Michael Taylor and wife Miranda of Oklahoma City, OK, Matthew Bryant and wife Heidi of Boone, IA, and Cody Weaver of Kansas City, MO; great grandchildren, Allison and Kathryn Taylor and Mason, McGuire and Haylie Bryant; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Orstad of Stanton, IA, Aleen Weaver of Atlantic, IA and Wilma Weaver of Jefferson, IA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.Funeral Information There will be an open visitation daily from 8:00 until 5:30 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, until the family meets with friends on Friday evening, March 25, from 7:30 to 8:30. Services for Deloris will be held on Saturday, March 26, at 10:30 am at the Roland Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Barnett of the Marion Street United Methodist Church in Boone officiating. Interment will be in the Noble Center Cemetery south of Lyman, Iowa. The Roland Funeral Home will be caring for Deloris' family and her arrangements.
