Ruth L Waters

Ruth Louise Waters, 85, of Atlantic, Iowa, died June 29, 2014, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.

The daughter of Lars P. and Minnie Louise (Brehmer) Mikkelsen, she was born October 25, 1928, in Atlantic, Iowa. She graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1947. Ruth was united in marriage to Russell J. Waters, January 12, 1951, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Atlantic. She worked as an office secretary for many years. Ruth was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, James (Sue) Waters of Overland Park, Kansas and Richard Waters of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her grandchildren, James "Mike" (Annie) Waters of Overland Park, KS and their children, Charlie and Allison Waters; Corie (Michael) English of Leawood, KS and their children, Finnegan and Beckett English, Matthew, Jacob and Luke Waters all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her sister, Helen Johnson of Lewis, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents; and one son, Joseph Waters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Thursday, July 3, eleven a.m., at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, with Father Chori Seraiah, celebrant. Interment will be in the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic.

A visitation with the family present is planned for Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roland Funeral Home.

Open visitation is available Tuesday and Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Roland Funeral Home.

The family has suggested memorials to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
