Richard Waters

Richard Dale Waters, 55, life long resident of Cass County, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, at his home.Rick was born October 12, 1954 to Noel and Bertha (Clinton) Waters in Corning, Iowa. He resided outside of Atlantic, Iowa and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1973. On February 23, 1974, he was married to Terri (Chick) Ross at the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Atlantic.He helped on the family farm north of Atlantic. Then he was a foreman for Abilds, working steel. He also worked for Williams Garage as a mechanic and had been working for a local farmer. Rick enjoyed his family most of all. He could fix anything. Harley motorcycles were always in his life. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing dice, cards, music and he became very good at darts and a master at cheating.Rick worked hard and lived life to the fullest, yet loved even stronger. He will be remembered for his big heart, a man of his word and always ready to help anyone who needed it.Rick is survived by his wife, Terry (Chick) of Atlantic; his three children, Corey Joe Waters and wife Katherine of Portland, Oregon, Eric Alan Waters and daughter Alyssa Marie of Wheat Ridge, Colorado and Megan Lea Schneider, husband Toby and their son Layne Michael, of Shell Rock, Iowa; three brothers, Jim, Frank and Ben; seven sisters, Marj, Eleanor, Theresa, Rita, Alice, Patty and Linda; six sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law and hundreds of nieces and nephews.Preceding Rick in death were his parents, Noel and Bertha Waters; his in-laws, George and Marge Ross.Funeral Information A celebration of life gathering will be held at his home at 63262 650 Street, south of Atlantic, at 2:00 P.M.
