Obituary for Paul Waters

Paul Waters, formerly of Atlantic, IA, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2004 at a hospice in Peoria, AZ, at the age of 80 years. Paul was born January 1, 1924, in Atlantic to Edward William and Zelia Ruth (Phares) Waters. After attending school in Atlantic and graduating with the class of 1942, Paul joined the Army and served in Germany, France and England during WWII. Upon his discharge, he continued his education at Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, MO, and graduated with a degree in education. He went on to teach and coach in Menlo, IA, Ravenwood, MO, and Zearing, IA. While at Ravenwood, Paul contracted polio. He later owned and operated nursing homes in Iowa and Minnesota. Paul was united in marriage to Irene Petersen on April 2, 1956, in the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. He is suvived by his wife Lorraine; one son, Jim Waters and wife Marvie of Glencoe, MN; four daughters, Julie Waters of Ames, IA, Janie Pentland and husband John of Sturgeon Lake, MN, Jennie Waters of Marshall, MI, Jonie Skou and Tony Porter of Buffalo Lake, MN; two granddaughters, Amanda and Ashley Waters of Glencoe, MN; one brother John Waters and wife Martha of Atlantic, IA, and nieces and nephews.
