Obituary for
								                                    Adele Warnke

Adele Schwanette Warnke, age 87, passed away on Friday, November 14th, 2015, in her home at Heritage House in Atlantic, IA.

Adele was born on March 20th, 1928, to Rudolf and Alberdine (Evers) Seeberg in the town of Osteel, Ostfriesland Province, Germany. She grew up and attended school and attended the Lutheran Church in Osteel. Upon her graduation from Volksschule, she attended vocational training in home domestics specialties. She worked as a housekeeper and nanny for several families upon completion of her training. On January 25th, 1952, Adele was united in marriage to Albert Warnke. Together, they emigrated to the United States of America to begin a new life.

From the moment they arrived on US soil, they worked! The first four to five years in the US they worked as farm hands for two different families near Underwood, IA. They moved to Council Bluffs, IA where Adele worked as an accomplished seamstress at the Pendleton Woolen Mills in Omaha, NE. Adele became a US citizen on October 7, 1957. In 1959, they moved to Walnut, IA, to build their own farming business. For the next 29 years, Adele faithfully supported Albert as they transitioned from a farm east of Walnut to the farm northwest of Walnut where they finally settled. They retired from farming in 1988 and moved to a home in Walnut. In 2008, Albert and Adele moved into Heritage House in Atlantic, IA.

Adele loved music, especially German folk music. She was noted for her outstanding German cooking. Guests were most happy to visit and enjoy her hospitality and wonderful meals. Adele was accomplished in crocheting and knitting, creating many beautiful decorative pieces and clothing.

Adele is survived by two sons, Richard and wife, Marilyn Warnke of Omaha, NE, along with their four children (her grandchildren); Daniel, Keith, Timothy and Carolyn Warnke; and Randolf and wife, Kimberly-Ann Palazzo of Long Grove, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; two sisters; and two brothers.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 23, 2015, at Roland Funeral Home.
