Lee B. Walter
Lee B. Walter, 88, of Atlantic, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2006, after a brief illness. Born and raised in Lewis, Mr. Walter graduated from Lewis High School in 1935 and married Helen Pressnall of Atlantic, Iowa, in 1938. After living in Atlantic and Onawa, they settled in Glenwood, Iowa, where they lived for several years. In 1957, they moved to Charles City, Iowa, where they owned a grocery business. They retired in 1985 and settled back in Atlantic, later moving to Lewis, and returning to Atlantic in 1999. Lee was the son of Art and Ada Walter, long-time residents of Lewis, and is survived by two children, Betty Thomas and husband Bill of Scottsdale, AZ, and James Walter of Athens, Georgia; two sisters, Vivien Wissler and Letha Armstrong of Atlantic; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife, Helen, and another sister, Mary Pont, are deceased.
