Lois Ellen Wagner
LOIS ELLEN WAGNER Lois Ellen Wagner, age 88, a long time area resident, passed away early Thursday morning, May 14, 2009, at the Guthrie Country Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa. Lois was born January 9, 1921 to Calvin George and Alma Sophia (Wohlenhaus) Lindeman in Noble Township in Cass County. She attended country school in the Lyman area and graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1938. She then taught county school. On May 17, 1943, Lois was united in marriage to Harold Emmett Wagner in Atlantic, Iowa. After marriage they lived south of Griswold where they farmed. They moved to Lyman for a short period before moving into Grant where they both worked for the Griswold School District. When they retired, they moved to Atlantic and lived at 305 Cherry Street in Sycamore Village until February 2008 when they moved to the Panora Nursing and Rehab Center in Panora, Iowa. Lois was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. While she was working at the elementary school in Elliott, she always had candy or sunflower seeds in her pockets for the kids at recess. She was raised in a Christian family and she attended the Atlantic Gospel Chapel. She loved singing and enjoyed all music. She is survived by her husband, Harold; one son Jack (Jo) Wagner of Atlantic; one daughter, Ellen (Ed) Morris of Bagley; three grandchildren, Brian (Jen) Wagner, Eric (Jenna) Morris and Craig (Kathy Jo) Morris; great grandchildren, Ben Parker, Brady Jo Anne Wagner and Makayla Morris; three sisters, Pauline (Murray) Schuler, Martha Jane (Grover) Lehmkuhl and Grace (Verlain) Rathkamp; two brothers, Bud (Doris Jane) Lindeman and C. G. (Helen) Lindeman and a number of nieces and nephews. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, a son Alan Wagner in 1989; a sister Betty Riley; a sister-in-law Carol Lindeman; two brothers-in-law Travis Martins and B. J. Riley.Funeral InformationThere will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home with the family meeting with friends from 9:00 to 10:00 Saturday morning, May 16. The committal will be held Saturday morning at the Pleasant Township cemetery south of Griswold at 10:30 with a memorial service for Lois at the Atlantic Gospel Chapel at 11:30. A luncheon will be served following the ceremony at the chapel.
