Obituary for
Harold Emmett Wagner
HAROLD EMMETT WAGNER Harold Wagner, 91, of Atlantic, passed on to be with his Savior at Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa on Monday, November 23, 2009. He was born the son of August W. and Henrietta Anna Louise (Dose) Wagner on October 16, 1918 in the Carson area. He was educated and grew up south of Griswold. Harold was married to Lois Ellen Lindeman on May 17, 1943 in Atlantic. The couple farmed in Pleasant Township for several years, until 1962. Harold then went to work for Griswold School as a custodian and bus driver. He was loved by many of the school kids that he came in contact with over the years. He was a good athlete and played on the Lyman baseball and basketball teams for a number of years. Harold drove a truck for Pelzer Trucking for a number of years and later worked for Mueller Bros. He served on the Grant Fire Department when he and Lois lived in Grant. When he retired twenty five years ago, they moved from Grant to Atlantic and lived there until they moved to the Panora Care Center. His superb trap shooting when younger will be remembered and he enjoyed camping and fishing. Harold accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior as a young man and he and Lois attended the Lyman and Atlantic Gospel Chapels all of their married life. They were an encouragement to many people by their faithfulness to the Lord as they were in attendance at every worship service until they moved to Panora in 2008. Harold loved the out-of-doors and one of the highlights of his and Lois' life was a trip to Alaska, with her sister and brother-in-law, in a motor home. They also spent some forty or more summers in Canada and Minnesota, camping, fishing and going to garage sales. During those summers, they attended a local church every Sunday and became well known in the communities where they stayed. His survivors include one son Jack (Jo) Wagner of Atlantic; one daughter, Ellen (Ed) Morris of Bagley; three grandchildren, Brian (Jen) Wagner, Eric (Jenna) Morris and Craig (Kathy Jo) Morris; great grandchildren, Ben Parker, Brady Jo Anne Wagner, Brandon Jackson Wagner and Makayla Morris; his precious dog/buddy Tinker Bell; and a number of in-laws, "out-laws" and nieces and nephews.
