Everett Vanderburg

Everett Martin Vanderburg, 88, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 18, 2002, at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville. The son of Frank and Florence Vanderburg, Everett was born January 21, 1914 in Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during World War II and saw action at Omaha Beach and in the Battle of the Bulge. He was united in marriage to Barbara Scherdin of September 29, 1988 in Sayer, Oklahoma. Everett was a jet mechanic for Tinker Airbase for thirty years.Everett is survived by his wife Barbara of Atlantic; four stepchildren, Darrel Petersen and his wife Becky of McClelland, Iowa, Doreen Petersen of Omaha, Donna Saggs and her husband Scott of Council Bluffs, and Diana Mitzlaff and her fiancé Jared Jensen of Weston, Iowa; eight step-grandchildren; his mother-in-law Marjorie Sherdin of Atlantic; two brothers-in-law, Gary Sherdin of Jesup, Georgia and Frederick Scherdin of Atlantic; and one sister-in-law, Marjorie Darnsteadt of Peoria, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Leberta; one nephew Duane; and his previous wives Rosalie and Ruby.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Everett will be held Friday, November 22, 2002 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa at 10:00 AM with Rev. Don Seeger of the First United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
