Obituary for Maxine Turnure

Maxine Turnure, 86 years, a long time resident of Atlantic, died on March 18, 2003 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Atlantic Iowa. The daughter of Homer and Elva Gaines, Maxine was born August 19, 1916 in Atlantic, Iowa. She graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1934. Her marriage to Earl Turnure took place July 4, 1935 in Sheldon, Iowa. Maxine and Earl resided in Atlantic the majority of their lives. She loved playing bingo and would play cards with anyone who was game, including an occasional trip to the casino with friends. Maxine was a member of the United Church of Christ.Surviving are two sons, Earl Wayne Turnure, Jr. and wife Sally of Independence, Missouri and Denny Turnure of Adair, Iowa; two daughters, Karen Turnure of Atlantic, Iowa and Diana Gude and husband Fred of Griswold, Iowa; 11 grandchildren Teresa Scarrow and husband, Thad, Randy Andersen, Mark Andersen, Steve Andersen and wife, Kim, Shelly Watson and husband, Paul, Susan Gregersen, Stacey Turnure, Frederick Gude and wife Sara, Melissa Gude, Jennifer Gude, and Michael Turnure; and 18 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Bernice Gaines.Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Turnure; four brothers, Wayne, Floyd Bruce, Harley and James Garland Gaines; one son in law, Roger Andersen; and one grandson, Scott Turnure.Funeral InformationServices for Maxine will be held Friday, March 21, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Chris in Atlantic, Iowa with Rev. Sue Hyndman officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
