Ramona Turner

Ramona Turner, 73, of Atlantic, Iowa passed on as a result of a two car accident that took place west of Carson, Iowa on Friday evening, April 14, 2006.Ramona was born the daughter of Doc and Alice Rountree in Mason City, Illinois, on May 29, 1932. At the age of seven, she moved with her family to Port Orange, Florida where she graduated from high school. Growing up, she became proficient as a violinist and was considered as a student at Juliard, in New York City, until there was a change of plans when her father became ill. Ramona went on to become licensed and to practice as a beauty operator. She spent 24 years living in Georgia. Meanwhile, she had a family and moved to Boise, Idaho. She later took medical courses for her work as an insurance underwriter which she enjoyed for several years. She worked for the Omaha World Harold Newspaper before she retired and moved to Atlantic to spend several years near her family. Ramona"s family and friends thought of her as always being selfless. "She thought of her kids first; always giving and very loving." She enjoyed her animals, watching old movies, going out to eat, and shopping for others. Ramona was a born again believer in Christ. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Turner of Atlantic; grandchildren, Josh Turner of Atlantic, Brandon Turner and Tiffany Turner and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Turner. She was preceded in death by a son, Rick Turner of Omaha, NE.Her funeral is scheduled for Wednesday morning, April 19 at 10:30 in the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 at Rolands.
