Robert Tibken

Robert “Bobby” Tibken, 59, of Atlantic, passed away at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa, on Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Bobby spent his childhood on his parent’s farm near Wiota, Iowa; riding his three-wheel bike, chasing farm animals, and listening to his collection of phonograph records and drinking Pepsi.
He attended special education classes in Atlantic, after which he lived and worked at REM in Shelby, IA. The past several years Bob shared a home in Atlantic with Gary
Dearixon and Billy Galloway under the supervision and special care of REM.
Bob’s family expresses their sincere gratitude to the many care givers of REM in both Atlantic and Avoca who made Bob’s final years very peaceful and full of fun-filled experiences creating a close family atmosphere. Thank you so very much.
Included in his survivors are his siblings, Richard (Martha) Tibken of Cumberland, Patricia (Gene) Nilan of Lincoln, NE, James (Pam) Tibken of Wiota and Jo Ellen Morgan of Lenexa, KS; and a number of nieces and nephews; aunts, and his REM family.
There will be a celebration of Bobby’s life held on Thursday, March 14 at 11:00am at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. His committal service will be at 1:30pm in the First Lutheran Cemetery south of Wiota, Iowa. Pastor Ted Weishaupt will officiate. There will be open visitation Wednesday from 8:00am to 5:30pm and Thursday from 8:00 until service time.
