Bruce Robert Thomsen
Bruce Robert Thomsen, 79, of Atlantic, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.The son of Thomas Baltzer and Agneta Nettie (Jorgensen) Thomsen, Bruce was born December 21, 1922 in Kimballton, Iowa where he grew up and graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1941. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was married to Elva Nielsen on May 9, 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bruce Was a territorial manager for Standard Oil for forty-one years and retired in 1986. Bruce married Beverly Rossmann on June 11, 1994 in Atlantic. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic; the Nishna Hills Country Club; and a former Elks club member.Surviving are his wife, Beverly Thomsen, of Atlantic; two daughters, Eileen Engard and husband, Bill, of Clive, Iowa and Peg Lund and husband, Chuck, of Urbandale, Iowa; one son, Dave Thomsen and wife, Deni, of Atlantic; six grandchildren, Toni Wilson and husband, Francis, Troy Lund and wife, Shelley, Michele Englebrecht and husband, Mike, Stephanie Phipps and husband, Tony, and Andie and Davy Thomsen; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Phillips, Jessica Engelbrecht and Sara Wilson; three brothers, Tommy, Burdette and Gene Thomsen; four sisters, Marge Price, Muriel Bacon, Berniece Garber and Edna Powell; two-step sons, Dennis Rossmann and wife, Linda, of Portland, Oregon and Duane Rossmann and wife, Barb, of Conroe, Texas; one stepdaughter-in-law, Patty Rossmann of Iowa city; seven step-grandchildren, Dean, Peter, Patrick, Michael, Samuel, Anna and Rebecca Rossmann.He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elva; two sisters, Golda Callin, and a sister Golda in infancy; one brother, Hans Thomsen; and one stepson, Alan Rossmann.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Bruce will be held at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa on Friday, July 12, 2002, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Don Seeger of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
