Ethel M. Thomlinson
Ethel Thomlinson, 93, a former resident of Wiota and Atlantic, was a resident of Colonial Manor in Anita, when she died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Cass County Memorial Hospital.Ethel was born August 15, 1913 to Harry and Looangie (Pace) Begley in Cedar County, Missouri. She grew up in the Montevallo-El Dorado Springs, Missouri area. December 15, 1929, she married Herbert Thomlinson at her family home. To this union, a daughter, Wanda, was born. She married Austin Wilkins November 1, 1937. To this union a son, David, was born. On August 26, 1960 Ethel and Herbert remarried. Ethel was baptized one of Jehovah"s Witnesses July 29, 1945 in Cass County, Iowa. She was a member of the Atlantic Congregation. She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed times with her family and friends and was an animal lover; especially her cat, "Boots" and then the cat, "Fat Boy", at Colonial Manor. A special time for her, in the summer, was sitting on the porch at Colonial Manor admiring the beautiful flowers and watching the golfers.Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; an infant daughter; her parents; one sister, Dora Anderson; her brothers Roy, Oscar, Loyd, Aaron, Elmer and John; and grandson-in-law, Robert Watson in 1986.Ethel is survived by her daughter Wanda (Lloyd) Reed of Atlantic; her son, David (Georgia) Wilkins of Gridley, CA; step daughter, Kathryn Clark of Redding, CA; grandchildren; Denny (Sherri) Reed of Ankeny, IA, Ron Reed of Tucson, AZ, Donna (Roland) Rhoads of Paris, AR; step grandchildren, Debra Fox of Redding, CA and Kristin (Rod) Jacobs of Chico, CA; great grandchildren, Shane (Tammy) Reed, Mike (Jamaica) Reed, Lisa Munsey and friend, Kevin Farver, Jennifer Watson, Shaun Watson and friend, Jeanette Kean; step great grandchildren, Jordan and Graeson Fox, William Jacobs, Mandy (Chris) Thurman, Jeremy Rhoads, Brad (Andrea) Harris; great-great grandchildren, Katelyn Watson, Mortgan and Brianne Munsey, Jacob, Joshua and Keira Reed; step great- great grandchildren, Kelsey and Jordan Littleton; sister-in-law, Edith Begley of Harlan, IA; and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, at 1:30 P.M. on November 27. Elder Dave Riffey, of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, will officiate. Family will meet with friends for a luncheon to be held following the funeral service. The committal will be at a later time in Missouri.
