Deb Sue (Misner) Thomas
Deb (Misner) Thomas, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was 52 years old.
Deb Sue was born the daughter of Charles L. Misner and Betty Lou (Schmitt) Brown on December 30, 1959 in Atlantic, Iowa .
Deb attended the Atlantic Schools and graduated with a GED. She was married to Norman E. Hoeck, the father of two of her children. She was previously married to Lyle L. Dorscher. The couple were blessed with two children. Lyle died September of 2004. She was then married to Rick D. Thomas in Atlantic, on December 12, 2006.
Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. Spending time with her family was her joy. One fonder memory, to tease her about, was of the year Deb, in an effort to save time, burned the pudding for 10 chocolate pies. Her family knew her as being very independent. She was a member of Atlantic Eagles Club (3763).
Her survivors include her children, Melissa Sue Murray (Steven) of Cumberland, Nicholas Anthony Dorscher (Kayla) and Nathan Scott Dorscher, both of Atlantic, Cassie (Hoeck) Randl of Cave City, AK, and Mandy Simms (Tony), Jessica Cavanaugh (Matt) of Des Moines Area; grandchildren, Amberlye and Michael Ervin and Reanna and Bryor Murray of Cumberland; Crystal and TiffaniAnne Hoeck of Cave City, AK; Tristan, Kyeden and Wyatt Dorscher of Atlantic; brothers and sisters, Jim Misner of Atlantic, Diane Anderson (Chuck) of Griswold, Jon Misner of Atlantic, Donna Haler of Griswold, Charlie Misner (Deb) of Griswold; husband, Rick Thomas of Atlantic; and many step-children and step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Justin Hoeck; her father, Charles L. Misner; her grandparents; a nephew, Joshua Misner; and her stepfather, George A. Brown.
There will be open visitation at Roland Funeral Home from 8:00 to noon Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 17. There will be a grave-side service held Monday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Southlawn Memory Gardens, south on Olive Street in Atlantic. Pastor Ken Davidson of the Atlantic Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.
