Obituary for Leo Tanner

Leo Wilbert Tanner, 78, a long time resident of Cass County, passed away Wednesday evening, October 22, 2003, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.Leo was born February 17, 1925 to Wilbert G. and Huldah (Mueller) Tanner in Cass County and attended rural schools in Cass County. He worked for various neighboring farmers and with his father until his marriage on March 3, 1946 to Rose Lindeman. They farmed nearly 40 years in Cass County. Leo completed high school in his early twenties by American School of Chicago's Correspondence work and graduated with honors. He hauled race horses for stables near Omaha and other locations to Kentucky, Florida, Texas and several other states for a number of years as a business. After serious surgeries, he moved to Atlantic in 1985 and trucked for Lindeman Tractor Co. From June 1993 to June 2000, Leo delived Winnebago Motor homes from factory to dealers in all the states and part of Canada. Leo accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at age 19 and attended the Lyman Gospel Hall and later the Atlantic Gospel Chapel. He especially enjoyed training bird dogs, raising quarter horses and being a 4-H leader of the horse division.Leo is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eileen Biggs and Betty Forsyth; a brother Duane Tanner; brothers-in-law, Clair Wohlenhaus and Walt Vogeler.He is survived by his wife Rose; three daughters, Kristi Thibodeaux and husband David of Anna, TX; Kathy Spragg and husband Ron of Platte City, MO and Sandy King of Littleton, CO; eleven grandchildren, Marly and Matthew Thibodeaux, Heidi, Hannah, Guy, Gus, Ingrid and Will Spragg, Angela Fauth and husband Matt, Jaclyn and Anthony King; a sister Lavon Vogeler of Omaha, NE; brothers-in-law, Bob Lindeman and wife Norma Jean, Robert Forsyth, Jim Biggs and sister-in-law Helen Wohlenhaus.Funeral InformationFuneral services will be held for Leo on Saturday, October 25, 2003, at 1:30 PM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with Milo VandeKrol and Duane Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Weirich Cemetery at Lyman, Iowa.
