Joan Sunderman

Joan Sunderman, 80, of Atlantic, Iowa passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Griswold Care Center.

Marilyn Joan Sunderman was born on January 18, 1934, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Andrew and Louise (Schaaf) Sunderman. She graduated from Griswold High School in 1954.

Joan enjoyed working with relatives, the Auerbach Family at their restaurant, "The Pines" for many years. She will be remembered for being cheerful and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Joan is survived by her brother, Sherwin Sunderman of Griswold, IA; and cousin, Lowell (Sylvia) Schaaf of Griswold, IA

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Waneta Sunderman; and brothers, Elwin Sunderman and Sheldin, who died in infancy.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at St. John’s Cemetery, south of Lyman, Iowa.

Open visitation will be held on Tuesday from 8 a.m. -5:30 p.m.
