Raymond Stormer

Raymond Lester Stormer, 67, formerly of Harlan, passed away early Monday morning, July 30, 2001, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.The son of Chester Oscar and Mary Evelyn (Lane) Stormer, Raymond was born April 10, 1934 in Atlantic, where he grew up and attended school. At age 13, he lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Maye and Ora Babbitt, northwest of Avoca in Shelby County. Raymond served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged November 16, 1956. He was married to Sandy Norgaard in Harlan on April 23, 1967. He helped his brother-in-law farm for around 20 years and was custodian at the Harlan High School for 20 years.Surviving are three sisters, Maye Babbitt and her husband, Ora (Bill), of rural Avoca, Doris Scott of Atlantic, and Betty Petersen of Exira; one brother, Donald Stormer, of Atlantic; and a number of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn and Marjorie in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Donald L. Petersen.Funeral InformationServices for Raymond were held Thursday, August 2, 2001, at 10:30AM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Allen D. Hellwege of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.Interment was in the Atlantic Cemetery, Atlantic Iowa.
