Jacqueline Stein

Jacqueline "Jackie" Kay Stein, 52, of Atlantic, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa.

The daughter of Raymond Henry & Roberta Jean (Clements) Stein, she was born April 30, 1962, in Harlan, Iowa. As a small child she loved to go on walks. She attended special education school in Harlan. Her family moved to Atlantic in 1976, where she continued her education, graduating in 1983.

She began working part-time for Cass Incorporated at age 16 and continued there full-time following graduation. Her favorite job was sorting the pop cans!

In 2000, she moved to Park Place in Glenwood, Iowa and enjoyed a similar job at their facility's workshop. Though her health began to deteriorate 3 years ago, she persistently remained active at Park Place until March of this year.

Jackie made a hobby of "hoarding" - her dad said that she just loved holding anything and everything. She loved stuffed animals, especially kittens and bears. She always looked forward to going to McDonald's for a Happy Meal and ice cream. She liked eating all the time and enjoyed stickers, necklaces and hats.

She is survived by her mom, Roberta; sister, Kim (and friend, Calvin); brother, Jeff; and sister, Lisa all of Atlantic; step-mom, Marilyn Stein of Lewis; step-brothers and step-sisters, Debbie (Denny) Briles, Randy (Ginger) Krueger, Dan (Vickie) Krueger, Sherri (Roy) Stanley, Beth (Scott) Petersen; step-nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Raymond Stein; maternal grandparents, Robert and Bertha Clements; paternal grandparents, Michael and Isabelle Stein; and Grandma Dollie and Grandpa Roy Imsiek.

A prayer service will be held at 11 o'clock a.m., Monday, April 13, 2015, at Roland Funeral Service. The family will gather for visitation, one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Open visitation will be available at Roland's, Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to Noon and Sunday, April 12, from 1-3 p.m.
