Donald Steffens

Donald Paul Steffens, 73, a longtime Norway Center resident passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at his home due to heart failure. Don, the son of Ernest and Maye Steffens was born March 11, 1930 at their family farm home in Wiota. Don"s marriage to Janet Ihnen took place on June 24, 1956 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wiota. Don and Janet ran a family business at Norway Center Store for over 46 years. Don served in the United States Army during the Korean War; was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church in Wiota and held various offices there; was an active member of the Iowa Blacksmiths & Welders Association. He was actively involved in raising show pigeons, and was a member of the International Pensom Roller Club for many years. Surviving are his children Kevin Steffens of Wiota, Dian Burke and her husband Tim of Iowa City, Mark Steffens and his wife Tina of Cedar Rapids; sisters Betty Pettinger of Colorado and Mardelle Harris of Atlantic, brothers Larry Steffens of Atlantic and Gail Steffens of Wiota; four grandchildren, Cassandra Petty, Ryan Steffens, and Daniel and Rachele Burke.
