Obituary for George Starlin Jr.

GEORGE STARLIN, JR. George Starlin, Jr. 79, passed away Tuesday evening December 2, 2008 at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born the son of George W. and Mary Minerva (Landon) Starlin, in Grant, Iowa in Montgomery County on February 1, 1929. He lived his entire life in Edna Township in Cass County, and his wife still resides on the third generation family farm northeast of Grant. He was engaged in farming and the trucking industry. He was an avid hunter, raised many hunting dogs, and for years shipped them to many areas in the U.S. He was the president and founder of the Nodaway Valley Coon Hunters Association for many years. He belonged to National Cur and Feist Breeders Association, Original Mountain Cur Breeders Association. He loved the outdoors, being involved in the Corning Saddle Club and Massena Saddle Club. Finding his enjoyment in nature and with more time in retirement, he planted many trees on his farm during his last years. In Atchison, Kansas he married the love of his life, Bonnie Wills. To this union was born five children. He loved his Lord and his dear wife, and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his life. He always looked forward to family get-togethers and family activities. George was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother Delbert; three sisters, Dorothy Hensel, Evelyn Vale and Maxine Starlin; brothers-in-law, Charles Hensel, Lyle Hiatt and Paul Vale; and sister-in-law Dorothy Starlin. Survivors include his wife Bonnie; daughters, Cheryl Starlin of Redding, California, Deborah and John Thomas of Wichita, Kansas; Patricia Morrison of Cumberland, Iowa and Angela Ireland of Massena, Iowa; son George D. and Crystal Starlin of Cumberland; his sister Myrna Hiatt of Atlantic; sixteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.Funeral InformationThe funeral will be held at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa on Saturday, December 6 at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Don McLean of Evangelical Free Church, in Atlantic, will officiate. The interment will be in Victoria Cemetery, south of Massena, Iowa. There will be an open visitation at the funeral home until the time of services. Roland Funeral Home is caring for George"s family and the arrangements.
