DONALD "DON" H. STAMP Don Stamp, 81, of Atlantic and formerly of Lewis, passed away on the evening of Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Cass County Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. Donald Henry was born the son of Alfred Henry and Ethel (Jipsen) Stamp in Atlantic, Iowa on March 16, 1928. He grew up with square dancing and roller skating as his hobbies in his younger years and graduated from the Lewis High School in Lewis, Iowa. Don was wed to Margery "Marge" Arlene Burger in Atlantic on May 28, 1950. The couple was blessed with two sons while farming south of Walnut in Lincoln Township. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic. He was also on the board of the Walnut Telephone Company and enjoyed being a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and Shriners. Most of all, Don loved his family and spending time with them. They will remember how he put his heart into his work. His survivors include his two sons, David Stamp and wife Diane of Northville, Michigan and Darrell Stamp and wife Jill of Walnut; Iowa; grandchildren, Robin Reiling of Livonia, Michigan, Thomas Reiling of Plymouth, Michigan, Jeremy Stamp and his wife Lauren of Plymouth, Michigan, Alexander Stamp and his wife Cecilia of Royse City, Texas, Timothy Stamp and his wife Natasha of New Albany, Indiana, Adam Stamp and his wife Nikky of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Erica Stamp of Leland, Illinois; and eight great grandchildren, Ella, Isaac, Shane, Dominic, Jackson, Reagan, George, and James Stamp; two sisters, Dorothy Swope of Oakland, Darlene Wooten of Longview, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Delores, in infancy; and one great grandson, Noah Stamp.Funeral Information There will be open visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily until Wednesday evening when the family will meet with friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m (a Masonic service will be presented at 7:00 p.m.) at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Don's funeral, a celebration of his life, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7 at Atlantic United Church of Christ in Atlantic. Pastor Nancy Jensen will officiate. The committal service will be in Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.
