Michael Sorensen

Michael Delbert Sorensen, son of Virgil Christian and Charlotte Ann (Savage) Sorensen, was born April 17, 1961 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and died June 13, 2001, at his home in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 40 years and two months.He grew up on the family farm northwest of Exira, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hamlin Lutheran Church in 1976. He attended school in Exira, Iowa.On July 23, 1983, he was united in marriage to Kellie Sue Gaylord in the Hamlin Lutheran Church, Hamlin, Iowa. They made their home in Atlantic and three daughters, Kimberly Marie, Jennifer Ann and Angela Michelle were born to this union.He worked with construction and welding jobs most of his life and was currently employed with Lloyd and Meredith of Atlantic, Iowa.He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed his children.Proceeding him in death were his grandparents, William Cecil and Lillian J. Savage, and Hans H. Sorensen; uncle, Harvey Christiansen; and cousin, Jody Christiansen.Survivors include his daughter's, Kimberly Marie Sorensen, Jennifer Ann Sorensen and Angela Michelle Sorensen of Atlantic, Iowa; his parents, Virgil and Charlotte Sorenson of Exira, Iowa; Kellie Sorensen of Atlantic, Iowa; Jack and Lois Gaylord of Atlantic, Iowa; his grandmother, Alice Sorensen of Exira, Iowa; aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.Funeral InformationServices for Michael were held on Monday, June 18, 2001, at 1:30PM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with pastor Steven Frock of the Hamlin Lutheran Church officiating.
