Obituary for Wade A Smith
Wade Alan Smith, 62, of Atlantic, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at his home in Atlantic.
Wade was born September 14, 1953, to Lyle and Luella (Logue) Smith at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He attended Clarinda Community School and Atlantic Community School graduating with the Atlantic High School Class of 1971. After school he joined the Army National Guard where he served for two years. When he returned he moved to Clarinda for a short time where he was employed at a landscaping company where he was in charge of taking care of the trees and plants.
On January 20, 1984, he was united in marriage to Terri Jameson in Atlantic. Two children: Dale Alan and Amanda Lynn were born to this union. He was then employed with Dennis Witt as a painter for 35 years until he was forced to retire due to his health. In his earlier years, Wade enjoyed shooting billiards and traveling the states. In his more recent years, he enjoyed watching T.V. and spending time with his friends.
Wade is preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Glen Smith; his sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Ron Hendrickson.
He is survived by his wife, Terri Smith of Atlantic; his children, Dale Alan Smith and Amanda Lynn Smith; his brothers and sister, Carl (Rosie) Smith of Springfield, MO; Neil (Patricia) Smith of Blaine, MN; Ida (Jeff) Oles of Hamlin, IA; three brothers-in-law; one step sister-in-law; one step brother-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A potluck memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. at the Super 8 Hotel Convention Center in Atlantic, Iowa.
