Obituary for Richard G. Smith

Richard Glen Smith, 86, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Allen Place where he was a resident.

Richard, the son of Herbert Glen and Mildred (Joyce) Smith, was born November 9, 1930, on the family farm north of Atlantic, where he grew up. He graduated from Atlantic High School in 1948. Except for his time in the Corps, Richard farmed his entire life in the Buck Creek neighborhood. After a major farm accident in 1966, he also worked off-farm, including many years at the Wonder Bread Store in Atlantic. Richard enjoyed family gatherings, especially Sunday evenings with popcorn and malts, playing checkers with Uncle Dave, tinkering in the machine shed, and raising a good crop of corn.
