Jenny Smith

Jenny Shannon Smith, 67, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Atlantic Specialty Care, Atlantic, Iowa surrounded by her loving and caring family.

Jenny was born on March 18, 1952 in Oakland, California to Edward and Barbara McGahan. She married Michael Beckman and together they had two children, Michael Beckman Jr. and Tiffany Nobles. She then married Robert Smith (deceased) and had two additional children, Jeremiah Smith and Diedra Smith.

As a homemaker, Jenny loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She truly enjoyed helping people and considered everyone a friend. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, cooking and shopping. As a child she moved a lot due to her father being in the Coast Guard. She lived in California, both Northern and Southern, Hawaii, Maryland and Michigan. As an adult she also lived in Germany, Missouri and Iowa. Jenny loved traveling and meeting new people.

Jenny is survived by her four children: Michael Beckman (Anna Beckman) of Prague, Czech Republic; Tiffany Nobles (Jerry Nobles) of Susanville, CA; Jeremiah Smith of Springfield, MO; and Diedra Smith (John Nelson) of Atlantic, IA. Jenny is also survived by her siblings: Michael McGahan of Kingman, AZ; Terry Crist (Steve Crist) of Hesperia, CA, Toni Meins (Lanny Meins) of Ava, MO, Lori Ryneer (Robert Ryneer) of Pleasant Valley, IA. Jenny has four grandchildren: Brandon and David Nobles and Hunter and Jesse Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smith, her parents, and grandson Edward.

A private memorial service was held by the family at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
