Eleanor R. Skelly
Eleanor Ruth (Thompson) Skelly of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on November 13, 2007 at the Heritage House in Atlantic at the age of 95. Eleanor was born the daughter of Andrew E. and Mary Ellen "Mayme" Masteller Thompson on January 12, 1912 in Cumberland, Iowa. She attended school in Cumberland and lived in the area until 1935 when she moved to Los Angeles, California. While living there, she continued her schooling at Sawyer Business College. On July 3, 1943, Eleanor was united in marriage to Albert Skelly and they resided in San Jose, California from 1950 until moving to Atlantic in 1987. Her hobbies and interests included antiques and rentals. Eleanor worked as a bookkeeper for a rental business. She attended the First United Methodist Church when she was able. Survivors include a sister-in-law, W. Ardell Thompson of Atlantic; nieces, Ruth and husband Darwin Turk of Lewis and their daughters: Colette Sternhagen and husband Stacy and their children: Ashley and Austin and Rachael Christensen and husband Anthony and Andrea Turk; and Joyce Anderson of Atlantic and sons: Justin Anderson and Jason Anderson; cousins, Mary Ellen Knop and husband Calvin, Barbara Wollenhaupt and Curtis (Rosalie) Masteller, Jr., all of Atlantic; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband Albert and her brother Howard A. Thompson and Robert M.
