Donald Courtney Shrum, 41, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at his residenceThe son of J. C. (Bud) and Donna Mae (Foe) Shrum, Don was born August 15, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Stanton, Iowa where he graduated from high school in 1980. He was stationed in Germany while serving in the United States Army from 1980 to 1983. Don was employed by Dana Glacier Vandervell as a set-up operator for the last five years. He was an avid Nebraska football fan and loved mud drag racing and figure eight racing.Don is survived by his fiancée, Denise Nolte Klever, of Atlantic; his mother, Donna Askey, and stepfather, Jim Askey, of Red Oak; his son, Trevor Shrum of Holdrege, Nebraska; his father, J.C. (Bud) Shrum; two sisters, Debbie Kirchner and husband, Kelvin, of Braddyville, Iowa, and Pam Miller of Red Oak; one brother, Charles Shrum and wife, Debbie of Villisca; one step-brother, Mike Askey and wife, Linda, of Red Oak; and several nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.C. Hellwege of the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak, Iowa.
