LINDA SHEA

Linda Shea, 65, of Atlantic, passed away as the result of a fatal car accident, Saturday, February 22, 2014, north of Atlantic.

The daughter of George and Anita Ethel Maack Mantay, she was born December 13, 1948, in Los Angeles, California. She grew up as a "California Girl" and graduated from high school out there. Later, she earned an a AA degree. Linda was married to Michael Eugene Shea on August 19, 1981, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Most of her career, she worked as a medical claims adjuster for various insurance companies, the last one being Statesman out of Des Moines.

Linda loved her California roots and for many years, she and Mike enjoyed having a pool in their backyard here in Iowa. She loved to swim and sunbathe, as well as work in her yard. Her husband fondly recalls her going camping "Linda Style," complete with pink robe, fluffy slippers and her curling iron. They were married for over 30 years and he says she had a strong personality but was graceful when proven wrong. She loved shopping and purchasing her Jaguar was the thrill of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Mike of Atlantic; her son, Richard Shea and his wife, Kate; her grand daughter, Carmela, of Blaine, MN; her sister, Sherry (Anne) Mantay of Missouri; her brother-in-law, Rick Shea of Tucson, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Leisa (Leonard) Long of Newark, MO and Connie Howard of Michigan; two nieces and 7 nephews; and a great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul Mantay.
