Sharon Pross

Sharon Marie Pross, 79, of Atlantic, died Friday, November 18, 2022 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

The daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Knight) Lane, Sharon was born May 7, 1943, (one of twins) in Atlantic, Iowa.  She grew up in Atlantic and attended Atlantic Community Schools.  Sharon was united in marriage to Richard L. Pross, also of Atlantic, in 1962.  They moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota that same year.  She worked at both the Elks Lodge and the Bethesda Nursing Co. of Aberdeen, for several years.  Sharon later spent many years employed at Cass County Memorial Hospital.

Working outdoors in her garden and crafting were great pastimes for Sharon.  Her true joy was always time focused on grandchildren and later, teaching great-grandchildren to swim.  She loved pets and had a number of Dachshunds over the years, Scooter being the most recent.

Sharon was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  She faithfully served as altar linen caretaker and housekeeper of the church rectory for quite some time and also cooked and served countless church meals.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard “Dick” Pross; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Mary Pross; son-in-law, Kyle Meier; her twin brother, Larry (Carmen Reagles) Lane; her sister, Betty Ann Retz; and brother-in-law, Dennis Pross.

Survivors her children, Jeffery L. Pross of Atlantic, Susan L. Meier of Griswold and Rich (Laura) Pross of Audubon; grandchildren, Sarah (Nathan) Brownlee of Griswold, Christopher (Amanda) Pross of Pittsburg, Kansas, Cassie (Tony) Dyer of Omaha, Nebraska, Stephanie (Wallace) Santana of North Liberty and Cody Pross of Altoona; great-grandchildren, Josh, Ashlyn and Kamron Brownlee of Griswold, Jaxon and Rylinn Pross of Pittsburg, Kansas, Wesley, Aria, and Krew Dyer of Omaha, Nebraska and Joshua Santana of North Liberty; brother-in-law, Richard Retz of Glenwood; brothers-in-law, Frank (Joanne) Pross of Atlantic and Mike (Cheri) Pross of Montana; sisters-in-law, Judy (Daryl) Andersen of Atlantic and Jackie Pross of Exira; four-legged friend, Scooter; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Roland Funeral Home with Father Trevor Chicoine of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.  No visitation with the family present is planned.
