Lillian Shannon
Mary Shannon, 89, longtime resident of Anita, died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Anita Colonial Manor in Anita, Iowa. She was born March 4, 1915, the daughter of Henry and Ada (Mallory) Karns and grew up in Anita. Mary was married to Maurice Shannon on May 25, 1935 in Missouri Valley, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gail Kirk. They farmed most of their life in Lincoln Township south of Anita until 1959. The couple then moved into the home of the late Henry Shannon at 501 3rd St. in Anita in 1961. She was a member of the Christian Church in Anita and the VFW. Mary is survived by 10 children; six sons, Wayne Shannon of Omaha, Jack Shannon and wife Donna of Omaha, Gail Shannon and wife Hannah of Minneapolis, Lyle Shannon and wife Marcia of Washington, NE, Clark "Butch&" Shannon of Kansas City, MO, and Rellen "Skip&" Shannon and wife Phyllis of Parkville, MO; 4 daughters, Mary Wahlert and her husband Harold of Anita, Maurine Gard and husband Dwight of Omaha, Ada Scarff and husband Robert of Omaha, Sharon Sandhorst and husband Roger of Atlantic; 24 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and 2 sister-in-laws, Delores Karns and Marie Karns.
