Obituary for Maxine Juanita "Mickey" Scybert (Lang)

MAXINE JUANITA LANG SCYBERT

Maxine Lang Scybert, age 93 of Atlantic, Iowa, died on October 29, 2012 at The Heritage House in Atlantic.
Maxine (Mickey), lifelong resident of the Atlantic area, was born on September 10, 1919 to Josephine Cady and Earl Lang. She attended school in Atlantic, graduating with the High School Class of 1937. She married the love of her life, John (Chet) Scybert, on August 23, 1939. Prior to his death in 2002, they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Both lived and worked in the Atlantic area their entire lives, owning and operating “Scybert’s Dairy”. Mickey was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Her life was grounded in God’s love and her love for her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook, clean and make her house welcoming to all who came to visit. Her free time was spent visiting friends and family. Her smile would light up a room and her laugh was contagious. She was a lifelong member of the First United Presbyterian Church.
Maxine is survived by two children, Richard Jon Scybert and wife Joyce Jensen of Atlantic, and daughter Nancy Jo Scybert of Sacramento, California. Two grandchildren; Joseph Scybert (Lana) of Des Moines, and Samantha Jo Scybert of Atlantic. Two step grandchildren, Ann (Scott) Brownsberger of North Liberty and Jon (Jennifer) McEntaffer of Atlantic. One niece, Jody Menta of Bristol, Pennsyvania; two nephews, Jeff Lang (LeeAnn) of Des Moines; and David (Bobbette) Lang of Jackson, Mississippi.
Those waiting to greet her in heaven are her parents; husband Chet; sister Shirley Lang; and brother Jack Lang and his wife Delores.
Mickey’s memorial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic. Pastor Holly Smith of First United Presbyterian Church of Atlantic and Pastor Lanette Plambeck of First United Methodist Church of Atlantic, will co-officiate. A private family committal service will be in the Atlantic Cemetery prior to the service at the church.
Roland Funeral Service of Atlantic, Iowa is caring for Mickey’s family and the arrangements. Condolences may be left in her guest book at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.
