John Scybert

John Chester "Chet&" Scybert, 85, a life-long resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital . The son of Chester Floyd and Sarah Anna (Henderson) Scybert, he was born November 20, 1917 in Atlantic. He graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1935. Chad was united in marriage to Maxine Juanita "Mickey&" Lang on August 23, 1939 in the First United Presbyterian Church. He owned and operated Scybert"s Dairy for 38 years and was engaged in farming his entire life. Chet was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic and he was also a lifetime member of the B.P.O. Elks Club.He is survived by his wife Maxine; one son Richard J. Scybert and his wife Joyce of Atlantic; one daughter Nancy Jo Scybert of Sacramento, California; one granddaughter Samantha Jo Scybert of Atlantic; one grandson Joseph Scybert and his wife Misty of Atlantic; one sister-in-law Shirley Lang of Atlantic; one niece Jody Menta and her husband Ben of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two nephews, Jeff Lang and his wife Leanne of Ankeny and David Lang and his wife Babette of Mississippi; and a number of great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Jack Lang.Funeral InformationA committal service will be held for Chet on Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at 1:30 PM at the Atlantic Cemetery with a 2:00 PM memorial service at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. The Rev. Don Seeger of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic will officiate.
