Doris Arlene Scott (Stormer)
Doris Scott, age 87, lifetime resident of Atlantic, IA passed away Friday October 25, 2013 at Jennie Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA.
The daughter of Chester N. and Mary (Lane) Stormer, she was born April 4, 1926 in Atlantic. She attended Atlantic High School through the 10th grade. She was united in marriage to Charles Scott on January 11, 1982 in Atlantic.
Doris loved children and worked in daycare for about 35 years. She also worked at Blue Star Factory processing chickens. She enjoyed music and dancing as well as making various crafts. She loved all of their pets dearly—but most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Doris is survived by three daughters, Sue Gaines of Atlantic, Tracie Evans (Jerry “Cliff”) of Elk Horn, and Amy Lett of Atlantic; one “honorary” daughter, Dory Schrader of Atlantic; one brother, Donald “Donnie” who lives at the Salem Lutheran Elk Horn Home in Elk Horn; and one sister, Mae Ellen Babbitt of Shelby, IA. She has eleven grandchildren, John Gaines, Michael Scott (Diana) Gaines, Danielle (Shawn) Gaines-Butler, Darci (Christopher) Gaines-Coatney, Tisha (Jake) Larson, Breanne Gessert, Zachary Evans, Cassandra (Dale) Dicicco, Kristen (Jason) Melansen, Francessca Evans, and Jamie Madden. Doris also has twenty-two great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, her brother, Raymond Stormer, a sister, Betty (Stormer) Petersen, a grandson, Robert E. Gaines II, and a grand daughter Angela.
