Clair
Schuler, Jr. of rural Atlantic, Iowa,
passed away Tuesday evening, August
16, 2011, at the Cass Country
Hospice Center
in Atlantic at the age of 84.
Clair
was born on June 14, 1927
in Longmont, Colorado
to Clair Jacob and Viola (Weaver) Schuler.
The family moved to Iowa
where Clair attended school at Sunnyside Noble #7 and Atlantic
Community Schools
where he graduated with the class of 1945.
On September 23, 1951,
Clair was united in marriage to Phyllis Ilene Foote. Clair farmed south of Atlantic
all his life and loved being a farmer.
He was a member of the Noble Center
United Methodist
Church. Clair enjoyed their trips to Council
Bluffs and spending winters in Cape
Coral, Florida in their winter
home. He always enjoyed visiting with
family and friends and everyone will remember how well he liked to joke and kid
others.
He
is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of rural Atlantic; two sons, Greg Schuler and
wife Deb and Jeff Schuler and wife Kris, all of rural Atlantic; two daughters,
Diane Mays of Omaha, NE and Vicki Nordskog and husband Jim of Oakland, CA; four
grandchildren, Elisha Spellman, Ashley Mays, Nathan Schuler and Nicholas
Schuler; six great grandchildren, Gavyn Mitchell, Elijah Mitchell, Phyllise
Mitchell, Quinn Johnson, Rondale Thomas and Daleron Thomas; one sister, Sharon
Roberts and husband Lloyd of Atlantic, IA and several nieces and nephews.
Clair
is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Pam Schuler, two nephews,
Terry and Todd Roberts; two great nieces and one great nephew.
There
will be open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic,
Iowa on Thursday, August 18, and Friday,
August 19, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
There will be a visitation with the family Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Services for Clair will be held on Saturday,
August 20, at 10:30 am at the Roland Funeral Home with Pastor Marion Sindt from
the Noble United Methodist Church officiating.
Committal will be in the Atlantic
Cemetery on Wednesday, August 24, at 10:30 a.m.
